1 Piece of news:

Scottie Scheffler's dominance continues unabated after scoring an incredible 64 (-8) on Sunday to finish the tournament with 268 strokes (-20) and claim the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. However, shooting a 64 to climb five positions and win the Players with just a one-stroke difference was not the most impressive feat Scottie achieved on Sunday.

  • He has also shot under par in all 27 of his rounds played this season on the PGA Tour, tying the longest streak of rounds under par in PGA Tour history.

  • Over the last two years (144 holes), he has only made nine bogeys at TPC Sawgrass. That's remarkable.

  • In the last 10 days, he earned $8.5 million, averaging $1,062,500 per round and $15,711 per shot.

  • He is the first ever to win back-to-back Players Championships.

  • Another significant achievement of Scottie's in the last few days is being compared to Tiger, which isn't a small deal.

We will see if these comparisons are accurate down the line if he keeps dominating.

1 piece of advice:

Getting your distance right is not always the easiest task, but it is certainly one of the most important ones. Although green-reading can be helpful, providing the precise speed to the ball on the green so you never fall too short or too long is definitely more crucial. If you misread a green, you may miss by 3 feet at most, but missing the distance can easily lead to a 3-putt hole.

So how can you work on this?

There are some ways to practice it, but following these simple steps helped me a lot:

  1. Find and stick to a putting motion; never accelerate or decelerate your putting swing. Longer putts mean a longer motion. This will give you distance consistency.

  2. Right before your round, do some putts with a natural and normal putting swing on a flat part of the green and count the steps (do it with 3 balls). Great, you now have a reference. For example, the normal putting motion = 8 steps.

  3. Now on the course, count the steps towards the flag, adding or subtracting steps depending on whether it's uphill or downhill.

  4. With the distance in steps, perform your putting swing using the reference you obtained while practicing and make it shorter, longer, or the same. Remember, never accelerate or decelerate your swing.

  5. Voila, you've reached the hole perfectly.

P.S: It's better to be 1 foot long than short; it will never go in if it doesn’t get there.

1 Golf Course:

Today we are talking about the prestigious TPC Sawgrass course.

TPC Sawgrass, a renowned golf destination nestled in Florida, was established by Paul and Jerome Fletcher, who generously contributed 415 acres for a mere dollar in collaboration with the PGA Tour. The property encompasses two distinct courses: the Stadium Course and the Valley Course. Notably, the Stadium Course, crafted by Pete and Alice Dye, stands among the most formidable golfing challenges globally, employing a pioneering "stadium" concept and serving as the esteemed venue for The Players Championship. The hallmark of TPC Sawgrass remains its iconic par-3 17th hole, famously dubbed the "Island Green," stretching 137 yards (125 meters). This hole, set amidst a lake with its green isolated on an island, is emblematic of the course's unique and demanding design, a must-experience for golf aficionados. Hosting up to 36,000 visitors, TPC Sawgrass promises an unforgettable journey for golf enthusiasts seeking both thrill and skill. Yet, the question remains: what is the cost to partake in this golfing haven?

1 piece of equipment:

Since we are trying to improve our putting techniques, today we are talking about Super Stroke grips.

Using a Super Stroke putter grip can significantly enhance your putting game, especially for avid golf enthusiasts. The larger diameter and unique design of the grip help to promote a more consistent putting stroke by minimizing wrist action and promoting a smoother pendulum-like motion. This increased stability and control translate to improved accuracy and distance control on the greens. Additionally, the Super Stroke grip's non-tapered design allows for a more relaxed grip pressure, reducing tension in the hands and arms, which is crucial for maintaining a consistent stroke throughout the round. For aficionados seeking to elevate their putting performance, integrating a Super Stroke putter grip into their equipment arsenal can prove to be a game-changing decision, leading to more confident and successful putts on every green.
